'tWe have a strange network problem (well I'w not sure what it is). We have
one main site where I am and most of the users and severs are, but we have a
couple of other sites connected on lease lines and through a DMZ on our Cisco
PIX firewall. We have not blocked any ports between sites either.

Right the problem I have is sometimes we can connect to local shares on the
remotes offices and sometimes we can't. For example \\server\c$ will work in
the morning and maybe not in the afternoon and visa versa, this can randomly
happen on any PC or server.

Now I just don't know where to start, it sounds like all the RPC
connections are being used up and when one becomes released when can then get
on to another pc/server's local drives. We never have this problem when I'm
on the same LAn, it's only across from network to network.

    Hope that made some sense

Have you checked the connections between sites? Sounds to me like your
the links to your sites are either becoming saturated with traffic, or
are randomly going down. I would monitor the connections. An easy way is
to ping servers on both sides of the link. You can also use the trial of
    IP Sentry.

    Hope this helps..
