logon script from wrong server

Discussion in 'Windows Server' started by Tommy Forsman, Oct 5, 2006.

  1. Hi

Is it possible to force clients to run logon script from a specified server.
Have some clients that run logon script from an older slower DC and not the
    closest DC?

  2. What do you mean with closest DC? If you have different locations (sites)
you should create these sites in AD Sites & Services. Then the client picks
the DC in its own site.

If both server are in the same site (=subnet) there is no way to control
which DC the client picks. Maybe you could jump to the other server in the
    loginscript itself:

    START \\FASTSERVER\NETLOGON\SCRIPT.CMD

    Something like that

  3. Yes, they are both in the same site. Problem is that the older and slower
server not always execute the logon script for some unknown reason.
