Low Disk Space on non-existent disk?

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by Not Really Me, Oct 2, 2006.

  1. My SBS2003 Server Performance report issued identical warnings of Low disk
space at 4:24pm Sat and Sun, on HarddiskDrive3. I don't have a hard drive
    3.

I have the main drive a 200GB EIDE drive and a 300GB external USB for daily
backups. The main drive has approx 150GB free and the external has 87GB
    free.

On Friday we did a server reboot which requires disconnecting the USB drive
for some reason. If we don't remove it we get an ntboot not found message.
Maybe I need to change the boot sequence in the bios?

After the reboot and reconnect of the USB drive I had to create a new share
for the drive so a couple of other machines can access it for their backups.

    I'm baffeled.

  2. Zero free space alerts for HarddiskVolumeXYZ usually occur when an
external storage device (USB/FW HD, memory sticks, etc.) is removed
without the use of "Safely Remove Hardware". They're harmless, and should
cease next time the device is reconnected.
