Macromedia Shockwave very slow

Having upgraded from WinXP Professional to 32-bit Windows Vista Beta2 (build
5384) everything's running smoothly with the exception of Macromedia
    Shockwave Player.

I've unstilled and reinstalled from the Adobe website, however when a
Shockwave objet is displayed in a webpage (e.g., Internet Explorer will gradually slow
to an unusable speed - iSketch provides a sketching function, the slowdown is
apparent when performing sketching on the computer. Same site performs as
expected at same time on another WinXP system.

I'm running an Intel P4 3.2Ghz, 2GB RAM PC with an ATI Radeon 7000 (64Mb)
grpahics card. Intention is to upgrade the graphics card, however I'm not
100% convinced the slowdown is graphics-card related.

Any pointers welcome - even if it's just upgrade the GPU.
