Manually Uninstall Program

Discussion in 'Windows Vista General Discussion' started by Robert M. Lincoln, May 29, 2007.

  1. In WinXP, you could use RegEdit to locate the
uninstall string and manually uninstall a program
by typing that string in the CMD program.

I have a program installed in Vista, but there is no
uninstall string listed in the Registry. I can clearly
uninstall the program using "Programs and Features"
from Control Panel, so my question is: how does
"Programs and Features" know what to do to uninstall
    the program.

The part of the Registry that I'm talking about is:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

I find the entry for the program I'm looking for and I've
looked at all the subkeys for it. There is no entry for
UninstallString. Note that several of my installed
programs do list such a subkey entry, but not this
particular program (installed with InstallAware Express 6).

    Thanks
