Massive slowdown vista when hibernate attempted

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Performance' started by VistahellDave, Nov 5, 2007.

  1. VIsta Home Premium. Core 2 processor, gigabyte board. When I change power
option to allow hybernate and then execute the hibernation, the cpu won't
wake up, you have to hold the power button and restart. Then when the system
comes up both cpu meters peg at 100% utilization almost 100% of the time. Of
course, any application runs at about 3% of it's normal speed (extremely,
extremely slowly) since the cpus are way overloaded. Looking at the
processes running reveals nothing out of the ordinary, no rogue process is
running. Doing a restore system from checkpoint then removing any hibernate
or sleep options seems to fix the problem. This happened after the 1st month
on Vista and I had to reload the entire thing, this time I was able to do a
restore. There is no reference to any problem on the MS info base that I can
    find.
