I have been running Windows Vista Home Premium edition on a Sony Vaio laptop
VGN-FE31M for about 6 months without a problem. All of a sudden I am having
problems with Media Center. When I start media center I get a message that a
vital component of media center stopped working and that I should restart
    the software.

Looking into the issue I found some information on the problem:
    - Windows Media Center Service Launcher was stopped, if I try to restart
this seemingly works.. but the service stops about 30s later and I seem
    unable to keep it running.
    - Problem signature (Dutch software):
    Probleem met handtekening
    Naam van probleemgebeurtenis: CLR20r3
    Probleemhandtekening 01: ehrec.exe
    Probleemhandtekening 02: 6.0.6000.16386
    Probleemhandtekening 03: 4549b54b
    Probleemhandtekening 04: ehepg
    Probleemhandtekening 05: 6.0.6000.0
    Probleemhandtekening 06: 464282fa
    Probleemhandtekening 07: 3a6
    Probleemhandtekening 08: 0
    Probleemhandtekening 09: .NullReferenceException.A3A9566D
    Versie van besturingssysteem: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
    Landinstelling-id: 2067
    - I can also confirm that the issue started without apparent cause. There
were no automatic updates or other software installs that occured at the
    time the problem occurred first.
    - In MCE logs I find a returning complaint that it is unable to remove a
recording movie file of more or less the time that the problems began.
However that movie file isn't there any more.
    - Finally: the error arrives when I want to watch TV recordings, I get no
error messages looking at digital camera pictures or movies.

If anyone can help me, please?

    Regards,
    Tom
