Since launch of the XBOX 360, media center extender has worked fine then it
stopped working after a disc cleanup. Xbox still showed the media center
computer as connected. Media center extender manager would not open because
of a missing file. I have tried everything on every web site to try to
resolve this issue; uninstalled and reinstalled media center extender,
uninstalled and reinstalled .Net 1.1 framework, removed the media center
computer from the XBOX 360 and continually get a setup error when the
computer tries to connect to the XBOX 360. I tried to do a repair with the
MCE 2005 disc but there was only install or upgrade for options. Can I do a
repair? I Have a lot of recorded TV and would hate to lose it all I tried a
restore point to before the disc clean up to no avail.

    Hi Darren:
Can't guarantee this will work but it is what would try and won't hurt
    your system:
    1. Download the Media Center extender software and save to your desktop.
    2. Uninstall Media Center Extender software in add/remove programs.
    3. Turn on your xbox360 and reset it to default while the pc is off.
    4. Unplug the xbox360 for a few minutes, then replug it.
    5. On the xbox 360, set up a new connection to your pc
    6. When the screen comes up telling you to download the extender software,
double click the saved extender file and install it.
    7. At this point your xbox 360 should give you the 4 digit code to connect
    to the pc.
    8. Enter the code on the pc and click enter.
    9. The Xbox360 should now connect and start loading your music & pictures

If this does not work, at least you have eliminated any possible problem
with the extender software on the pc having any missing code. I had a
connection failure that threw up a "fatal hardware failure" warning on my 8
month old Xbox360 once and the solution Microsoft tech support advised was to
    return the xbox for repair.
Instead I did the above and it has worked fine since. If this doesn't help,
I'm not tech savy enough to give further advise LOL! tucson
