MCE 2005 build 2230 vs build 2231...?

  1. I noticed that the MCE 2005 "ATSC Update" now available from Windows Update
updates the English version of MCE 2005 to build 5.1.2700.2230, while it
updates the German version to build 5.1.2700.2231.

What's the reason for these two updates not being on the same build number?

Also, what builds will the other language patches update MCE 2005 to? Could
we have a comprehensive list of each language and what the _latest_ MCE
build for this language ist? I'll start it here:

    MCE 2005 English: 5.1.2700.2230
    MCE 2005 German: 5.1.2700.2231

How about French, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese?

  2. Ok, I got bored and my ADSL was idle anyway, so I just downloaded the patch
in all languages and patched. Here is the complete list:

    MCE 2005 Dutch: 5.1.2700.2230
    MCE 2005 English: 5.1.2700.2230
    MCE 2005 French: 5.1.2700.2230
    MCE 2005 German: 5.1.2700.2231
    MCE 2005 Italian: 5.1.2700.2230
    MCE 2005 Japanese: 5.1.2700.2230
    MCE 2005 Korean: 5.1.2700.2230
    MCE 2005 SChinese: 5.1.2700.2230

So it's only the German Update that is one build ahead of all the others. I
suppose it might have been some late-breaking bug specific to the German
update (maybe a typo?) that had to be fixed...

  3. All versions are 2230 except, German which is 2231. We made a special build
    just for you :)

Actually due to a late breaking German string change we had to build a new
    German version only.

Localization for German can make for some really really long strings which
can cause NEXT button to run right oft the screen...
