I just upgraded to MediaPlayer 9. Now when I start my
computer (Windows 2000), MediaPlayer automatically starts
up. How can I stop this from happening?

    JD,

Click Start -> Run -> type "regedit", browse to
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and delete the Windows Media Player key.
You may also want to check
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
if you don't find anything in HKCU.

    Cheers,
    Edward

Has anybody ever *had* a WMP key under the "Run" registry key? WMP wouldn't
put one there. I'd love to know - whatever app that is making WMP run on
start-up is torquing me off. WMP very deliberately never sets itself to run
on system start-up, so it's obnoxious that some other app is making WMP run
    on start-up. :-\

    Also, "msconfig" may help.
