    Greetings,

I need to provide a new server for a small network (12-13 users).
Have you got any experience with Microsoft 2008R2 Foundation server?
MS SQL Server 2008 for 10 users is to be installed on it.
    Hardware is IBM server x3400, 8Gb RAM, 3x500Gb SATA - RAID5.
What's your opinion on such combination?

    I appreciate your recommendations.

    Your concerns are?

In general terms, you should thoroughly review and familiarize yourself with
all of the restrictions on Foundation Server and the domain that it will be
    joined.

    Thanks for your reply.
I saw that link earlier. It seems that all should work without problems.
I have not seen in practice, such a combination, MS Foundation Server + MS
    SQL Server 2008.
That's why I want to know if everything works as described.

Should be OK but some other restrictions may limit growth particularly for a
SQL box. Namely a single proc and 8GB RAM limits.

    Greetings,
This is true but I predicted that it would be enough for the next 3-4 years.
If necessary we can make the upgrade to MS Standard Server 2008 and 32GB of
    RAM.
Therefore, the server (IBM x3400) will be stronger than currently required.
    With the possibility of upgrading.

  9. Are you sure you can buy a IBM x3400 with Foundation installed? I've
only seen it as an option on 'low end' server hardware.

    There should be no problem.
I requested an offer from official IBM distributor.
