Migrate W2k3 DNS to W2k3 R2 DNS

Discussion in 'DNS Server' started by Darren Thorley, Sep 5, 2007.

  1. I am in the process of decomissioning the first DC in our Windows 2003 AD
domain. I have introduced a new R2 server and made it a domain controller. I
have migrated the FSMO roles and made it a DC. I now want to migrate the DNS
    to it.

I may have done a silly thing but as we are running Active Directory
Integrated DDNS I have installed DNS and verifed that everything has
    replicated across.

Before I remove the old DNS I have started to go through all the zones and
noticed that only the old server is listed in our ad zone in the _msdcs
along with some of the service records (Tapi3Directory, DomainDNSZones,
    ForestDNSZones)

Before I remove DNS do I need to manually adjust these records or will they
be automatically changed when I remove DNS from the old zone?

Thanks very much for any advice given.

    Regards,

    Darren
