I would like to move one of our DC's From 2000 Srv to 2003 srv.
    Here is some specs:

    "Domain A""10.1.1.1/255.255.255.0" - Win 2000 Srv SP 4 - Running DNS, WINS,
DHCP & is also a file Server (Done before my Time).

    "Domain B""10.10.0.1/255.255.0.0" - Win 2000 Srv SP 4 - Running DNS, WINS,
DHCP & is also a file Server (Done before my Time).

    "Domain C""11.1.1.1/255.255.0.0" - Win 2003 Srv SP 2 - Running DNS, WINS,
    DHCP.

All workstastion and Thin Clients are Static ip's(over 400): Laptop are DHCP.
All domains are can see each other. DC B & C are offsite locations.

    What i need help with:
I want to Put in A Win 2003 Srv as the "Domain A" - With DNS,WINS & DHCP and
leave the old Win 2000 srv as a File Server. I would like the new DC to use
the same IP as the old DC, This would minimze how many Workstations i will
have to touch. Eventually We will have only 1 domain to deal with with 3
Backup DC's, all on the same subnet. But this is my first step. I have the
New machine Built and OS installed. Just not sure where to go next. Please
    help!

    Thanks
    John L.

    |
    | 1. Install new Win2003 machine into Domain A
    | 2. Install DNS and WINS services on the new machine and configure as
    | necessary.
    | 3. Install DHCP on new server configuring the necessary scope and options.
    | Then immediately disable the DHCP service on the old DC.
    | 4. Promote to Domain controller.
    | 5. Add Global Catalog to new server.
    | 6. Move Domain A's FSMO roles to the new domain controller.
    | 7. Verify that AD has fully replicated and then test that everything works
    | by shutting down the old DC. If something breaks fix it and repeat this
    | test until all is well. Everyone able to login? Inter forest and domain
    | trusts in place and working?
    | 8. Now demote the old Domain A DC to a member server.
    |
    | You can then renumber the IP addresses if you wish but, I would recommend
    | against this. You should not have to touch anything on the workstations if
    | they are using DHCP. If they are using static IP configurations that will
    | require changes then look into using the netsh command in a login script
    to
    | change the workstations' DNS and WINS settings or, better yet, change them
    | to DHCP too.
    |
    | That should pretty much take care of the DC migration. There's bound to
    be a
    | bump or two, i.e. schema extension errors with /forestprep or /domainprep
    | but, they're well documented and fairly easily resolved.
