I need to migrate the LOCAL groups and users of server A
to server B. Server A is Windows 2000 Server and server B
is Windows Server 2003. What utility could accomplish
this task? Thanks for any and all help.

  2. Hello Jeremy,

    Thank you for your post.

I am sorry to say that we are unable to migrate local user and group
between two standalone machines. A possible solution is to use NTBACKUP
tool to back up the system from the Windows 2000 system, restore it on the
new computer (which should have similar hardware configurations), and then
perform an in-place upgrade to Windows server 2003.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not
hesitate to let me know. I am happy to be of further assistance. Thank you
    for your time and cooperation!

  3. You may want to take a look at Microsoft Solution Accelerator for
Consolidating and Migrating File and Print Servers
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...26-A398-44D3-A37A-14B38E6E0550&displaylang=en.
One of the documents (Consolidating and Migrating File Servers.doc) contains
an example of migrating Local groups to a new server using 'net localgroup'
    and 'usrtogrp' command lines.

    Hope this helps
