We have a working file system driver running on XP. It was built without
the mini-filter technology. We are now starting to work on Vista. Is there
a truly compelling reason to re-write the driver as a mini-filter?

It depends on the filter. There are some new things in Vista such as
transactions, if yeed to interact with those new items it may be worth it.
Also, keep checking because there have been rumors Microsoft will start
requiring this technology at some point.

  3. I too have heard rumors that non-fltmgr based filesystem filters may become
unsupported in the next major OS release after Vista, but as far as I know
this is still up in the air. You might follow the OSR ntfsd list for more
    about that.
