Missing Contacts in Windows Live Mail

Discussion in 'Windows Live Mail' started by The Razor's Edge, Feb 27, 2014.

  1. I am running Windows 8 on a Dell Laptop

Twice in the last few days I have lost all my contacts and after manually
entering them again, this morning they are gone once more.

I cannot seem to find the version of WLM I am running because I cannot find
    an "about" option.

    Any ideas?

    Giovanni

    Hi, Giovanni.

You are not using ANY version of WLM - at least, not to post your latest
message. The Properties window for your post shows that you used:
    X-Newsreader: News Rover 18.2.3 (http://www.NewsRover.com)

Win8 - like all recent Windows versions - does not include any newsreader at
all. To get WLM, you must download it. Probably the best source is here:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/essentials-other#essentials=mailother

WLM 2012, which I am running (see my Sig for details) does show the version
number if I click File | About.

If you really are using WLM then click on the tab to the left of the
Home tab then you will find the About option.

    Good luck

Which mode are you operating WLM ?

    - signed on to MSFT services
    - not signed on to MSFT services

Each mode has its own unique contacts database

    Brain Fart on my end.

I posted the message via NewsRover because I use it to access newsgroups and
    not WLM.

I do not sign into MSFT services and have a POP3 account. The .edb database
in DBstore\15.5 has todays data and time stamp but once again the three
contacts I put in yesterday are not there again today.
The tempedb.edb file has the same time stamp as the contacts.edb.

Quite frankly I have never been a big fan of the Outlook Express, Outlook or
any other offering from MS and Live Mail is no exception however I use it.
