Just fixed a few problems on a friends PC. She's running Norton 360 Internet
Security Suite and has 5 (five) user accounts on the machine.

As I was checking through all accounts making sure everything was now OK, I
noticed that on one account the Norton360 toolbar was missing!? - showing on
    all other accounts.

I've checked to ensure the toolber is "ticked" to display (which it is) but
I can't get it to show and become visible. You can switch on/off but
    doesn't display

    Any Ideas ????

    Hi Barrowhill,

    IE version? 6 or 7?

    IE6 - Reset Toolbar Layout
    http://www.iecustomizer.com/?url=ITBarLayout1Download.asp

    IE7 ??

Note in both versions there is a maximum of 16 Toolbars that will display in
the IE Toolbar, as you install more they may not appear in IE's
    View>Toolbars menu.

    Regards.

    Rob,

As subject says ( you may need to widen frame on page) - IE7. Only other
toolbar installed and displaying is the Google Toolbar.

    Hi Barrow,

Stupid me! Its getting late here and my vision is failing...

There must be something about that User Account that does not show the
Norton 360 toolbar. It must have been create before or after the Toolbar was
    installed.

Anyway.... this is a bit complicated..but it sounds like you can handle it.

Logon with an account that does show the toolbar. Open regedit and export
    the key
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser

Logon with the defective account and merge the file that you just exported
    back into the registry.

    Regards.

    Rob,

A great help !! I didn't think it initially worked as on opening up IE the
toolbar was still not showing. However.....Checked tools/manage Add-ons and
found new, but disabled object.........Norton Confidential Browser Helper
Object. I enabled and Voila! now working.

I'm positive the BHO wasn't there before export/import. the only one that
was was "Show Norton Toolbar" and that I'd previously enabled. If it was
originally there then I missed it, but whichever way you look at it, you
input was the most valuable in cracking the problem.

Thanks for you time in replying. I'm most grateful.

Many (if not all) Norton 360 Add-ons have proved to be problemmatic in IE7.
I don't recommend installing any of them (nor do I recommend any Norton
    application).

    HI Barrow,

Sounds like IE7 was disabling the toolbar by default. Without looking into
it, it sounds like Bear's advice may be prudent. The vast majority of IE7
problems have been caused by incompatible Addons.

Generally now I don't use BHOs or Toolbars anymore and my extension
development has evolved to use methods other than ISetSite to access the
    browser.

    Regards.
