Monitor login and logout

    Is there any way that I can monitor when users login and logout of their
    Windows XP computers in our Windows 2000 Active Directory?

    Turn on Account Logon Auditing (kept at DCs) and/or Logon Auditing
    (kept at the computers), perhaps using a GPO to enable these.

    Third-party tools

    Yes, there are some good third-party tools out there that will do this for you (check out Stealthbits and NetIQ). NetWrix also offers an excellent freeware tool called Logon Reporter that will work for you.
