Move the actual boot loader to different partition?

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Installation' started by Gerry Hickman, May 21, 2006.

  1. Hi,

Is it possible to move the whole boot loader to a different partition?
    Here's the current setup:

    P1 Dell Utility
p2 Vista boot loader and old o/s (was C drive of old o/s)
    p3 Data
    p4 Vista o/s

Can I move the the whole boot loader to p4 and then set p4 Active in the
MBR (subject to BIOS geometry translation limits)? I noticed in BCDEDIT
you can create a new "store", but it's not clear if this will actually
install a partition boot sector at the same time?

(I don't care if the whole thing breaks trying to do this)
