Moving MSCS and SQL Server cluster to a new subnet

Discussion in 'Clustering' started by Jose Lopez-Alvarez, Oct 20, 2004.

  1. Hi, I need help in moving a MSCS running SQL Server 2000 as a clustered
    resource to a new subnet.

The subnet mask will remain the same jsut the IP addresses will change.
Which one do I do first the MSCS or SQL? I'm looking at KB2230356 and
KB244980. Anything else I need to do?

    Thanks

  3. Thanks for your help Rod. A couple of question, since I have to physically
move the servers to go to the new subnet, do I have to take all of the
resource offline before I shutdown the servers? When I have the servers
installed in the new location should I make the the KB changes with the NIC
    cables unplugged?

  4. When you do a shutdown, it will take everything offline for you :) Shutdown
one node at a time to move then, and boot one up at a time. Then take
everything offline and change the IPs. I see no need to unplug the NIC
    cables.

    Cheers,

    Rod
