Moving objects between OUs

Discussion in 'Active Directory' started by supersonic_oasis, Jan 2, 2007.

  1. Hello,

    I know there is a way to move users between Organizational Units from the
    GUI, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it from the command line,
    so I can script it? I want to be able to move them from One OU to another
    within the same domain.

  3. You can use dsmove or admod with the -move option...

    (all one line)

    admod -b cn=someuser,ou=someou,dc=dom,dc=com -move
    ou=someotherou,dc=dom,dc=com

    You can also combine admod with adfind and move ten, hundreds, or
    thousands of users in one fell swoop. You can also move them between
    domains within a forest if you want.
