    Hello,

This is a question for IT admins and IT the savvy. at work, the system
admin has a tool to push updates to all us users. On any given day I
see a popup showing a list of windows updates, patches, etc that are
going to be updated soon. One of the updates I see frequently is "MS
Malicious Softw. Removal Tool" which gets installed, but I never see
it run, and it doesn't show under Installed Programs in the Control
Panel either. So I wonder if it's actually being installed and run???
Forget about asking the admins, they never give me an answer that
    makes sense :)

How can I find out where this Removal Tool thing gets downloaded in my
local PC? Does Window have a default folder for that? I want to find
the exe, and run the Malic. Sfw. Removal Tool by hand, b/c it doesn't
seem to run after it installs. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in
    advance.

    Sincerely,

    Rick

It scans when downloading. It resides in the System 32 folder under the name
MRT.EXE. You can go there and click on the file and have it run while seeing it work
