MS05-047 and MS05-050

Discussion in 'Update Services' started by Kenneth Stevenson, Oct 12, 2005.

  1. Not sure if this is the best place for WSUS meta data errata but
MS05-047(905749) appears from the bulletin to supersede MS05-039(899588)
but in WSUS this isn't indicated. Also MS05-050(904706) is flagged for
XPSP2 machines but the bulletin doesn't indicate that it is relevant for
    that platform.

  2. Yeah, I saw that yesterday myself. I have reported it to Microsoft.

If you mean "Security Update for Windows XP (KB904706)" with Update ID
b5503e2c-adaf-494b-b3f7-15e893f84273, it is relevant for DirectX 8.1
on WinXP SP 1 and DirectX 9.0c on WinXP SP2, just as listed in

  3. Just a follow up on the lack of supersedence metadata for
on MS05-047 - that update has been revised to display it does supersede

We have also created a new WSUS .cab and pushed out revisions to address
problems identified since Tuesday. These updates should be available now -
(post 4:30pm Pacific Time). As always for Windows Updates - this KB reports
    update releases and release revisions.

Hope this helps and thanks -
