MSSC, Fileshare and ShadowCopies

Discussion in 'Clustering' started by Michael Hirczy, Dec 6, 2006.

  1. Hi!

I'm actually installing a filesharing cluster with 2 nodes, where I have
enabled shadow copies. After following the guides at technet, everything
    is working fine...
When I checked my cluster config today, I found out that after
configuring the shadow copies, my volumes holding the data depend on the
volumes where the shadow copies are stored.
This looks a little funny to me - for me, s-copies are some kind of
backup, so it's a bit strange, that my backup disc has to be available,
otherwise my data disc will go offline.

Would it cause errors, if I remove the dependency on my data disc?
Is it a MUST to have it configured the default way?

    thx and greetings
    michi
