Everytime I clik the home page or open a new window it goes to a virus
protection web page. I already have a virus protection and am not in the
market for a new one. Does anyone know a fix for this? This is showing up
in my system tray as well, anytime I click on that it shows this page as
well. When I hover over it it shows System Alert.

  2. Seems like a malware. Use ad-aware or some other reliable free spyware
removal tool. It should fix this.

I am having the same problem, but the home page keeps defaulting to MSN. I
have tried changing it through tools and through the "use current", but it
doesn't stick. I have scanned my computer and it comes back clean.

    Reply to Paula:

It sounds like your Internet Security Software is preventing you from
changing your home page. If this is the case, go to it's settings and switch
off this feature. Change your home page and then switch protection back on.

    hi,
I am not qualified enough to advise you, sorry, but this reminds me of what
trojans CWS or Oslogo can do.... Try "shredder"...
    good luck

  6. It might be a security program blocking the Registry change it needs to
make. A few of the programs now doing this are:
    Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
    IBM Access Connections
    McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
    Norton AV
    Spyware Blaster
    Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
    Spybot- Teatimer
    Spysweeper
    Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.

In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be
uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you
    reinstall Zone Alarm.

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking with Networking and try the change.

  7. You have a malware infection. Help with malware:

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
    of.

    Hello Bullet,
I have a similar problem, except Google has hijacked my home page, which I
would like to be CNN and on a second tab, WEather.com.

Exactly how can I "go to my internet security software settings and switch
off this feature"? I am not familiar with any internet security software.
Do you mind providing a few details ?

    Thanks!
