Name resolution over VPN

I am pretty sure this is more of a name resolution issue even though the
error states permissions might be an issue. They look fine and the user has
access when in the building, but when they connect over our Juniper/NetScreen
FW/VPN they get the following message when connecting to the file server:

\\server\sharename is not accessible. you might not have permission to use
this network resource. the network name cannot be found.

The path the use is a DFS path, so \\domainname\sharename\subfolder. It does
not happen to everyone all the time, more of a rarity, but we do not run WINS
server and the clients do not have a WINS address populated. We do run McAfee
Enterprise v8.0.0 on the server with access protection enabled.

    Ideas?
