NdisSend not working for WAN Packets : Solution ???

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Drivers' started by kaursukhvinder, Sep 15, 2005.

  1. Hi All !

Probably i am bringing forth a known but undocumented issue.

"NdisSend works great on ethernet, but packets just loop back when
trying to write to a WAN (modem) card. This is because Only one
protocol per protocol type can register to send, though any number are
    allowed to receive."

Actually i am facing the same issue. I have been working on an IM
Driver and find that with the LAN card sending packets is not an issue
but when a modem (Dial up adapter) comes into picture, the ping packets
stop going out on the wire(I am using NdisSend). Probably they are
    getting buffered by NDIS.
But can't figure out how to resolve the issue.
Could somebody elaborate on how to register just one protocol ?
And if i register WAN Medium, how do the Ethernet packets go ?

Thanks for your time in advance.
    Waiting eagerly for any replies.

    Warm Rgds
