Netflix in Windows Media Center

Discussion in 'Windows Media Center' started by, Dec 21, 2008.

  1. Why is Netflix available on xbox but not in Windows Media Center?

We paid for WMC and should not be expected to pay for additional hardware.

    Thank you in advance.

Since we can already watch Netflix on our desktops it is probably not a high
priority for Netflix at this time. Right now Netflix appears to be
concentrating on hardware solutions XBox 360, Roku and LG/Samsung BD players.

It would be up to Netflix to write a Media Center plugin or license the
technology to Microsoft or some other third-party for use in Media Center.

I would assume that Netflix will eventually make it to Media Center but I
have not seen any annoucements yet.

  4. I've tested all of the third party plug-ins but since netflix has switched to
silverlight none of them will work properly. they lack the full screen and
    remote control functionality.

I started getting obsessed with having that functionality that I started
looking at developing a new plug-in myself but there's no netflix API for
controlling the player... only controlling their account related items.

Give me the source code that's used on xbox and I'll do it myself? haha

I saw the work done at *PDC and have been waiting since it was showcased in
2005 but it ended up only being released for xbox.

    not fair :(
