  4. Marieete, I just looked at my SBS2003 SP1 server with ISA 2004, and the
option where to store ISA logs (msde or files) is set to files. I don't have
my documentation at hand. .. but is selecting msde or files for the ISA logs
a configurable option at the time of installing ISA 2004?

Hmmm, then your upgrade must have failed at some point. By default a MSDE
instance is created when install ISA 2004. I have not seen a choice for the
log files when you install the upgrade.

I have been trying to figure out what the response of Mariette's post from
Kevin and Frank means and it is just not coming to me. Maybe asking will
reveal my ignorance but what does "rtf" mean? The only thing that I could
equate it to was the .rtf file format and I don't think that's it.

Thanks to all three of you for helping make this newsgroup a big help to
    many!!
    Jeff

  9. No, I don;'t believe my ISA 2004 install failed. But it was duyring the SP1
    beta testing, so who knows.
But there is certainly a choice afterwards within ISA Management whether to
use or not use MSDE for your log files ...

Strange. If you look at How to install Service Pack 1 for SBS 2003:
    http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?PageContentID=62&tabid=236

One of the pictures shows clearly it installs MSDE SP4. I am almost 100%
certain that installing ISA 2004 always installs a MSDE instance. Just tried
    that in a virtual machine.
