Following step 4 in SQLINSTALLSTEPS.HTM, it directs you to attach to
    STS_ServerName_1.mdf in %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
    Server\MSSQL$SHAREPOINT\data

However, that path and database do not exists!

Instead, the path %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL1\MSSQL\Data is automatically highlighted. None of the databases
    match the docs.

I am unable to find any ammendments (or updated READMEs) to the document
    SQLINSTALLSTEPS.HTM.

Question: is the Sharepoint database gone, or has the database changed names?

    thanks

Yes, this is a new SBS R2 install to a new server.

First. try to find the following files and take note of the path:

    STS_config.mdf
    STS_<servername>_1.mdf
    STS_config_log.LDF
    STS_<servername>_1_log.LDF

These are the related WSS database files. Next, look at your Services
Manager and look for the service named MSSQL$SHAREPOINT. In SQL Server
Management Studio, attach the database mentioned above and make sure you
check the path on which it will be saved.

    Solved...

The correct path was on another drive. SQL opened a path on C: but the MDFs
    were on D:

This is what you get when you work too many hours...

    Thanks guys.
