New User Wizard Fails

Over the last three days I have installed SP1 and Exchange SP1 & SP2 (plus
the necessary hot fixes). Everything is up todate.
Running the Best Practices Analyzer tool gave 1 comment, Temp/TMP variables
should not be set for Drive C so I re-pointed them to D:\temp (dir exists).
Today I tried to add a new user using the Wizard. The opening screen pops
up, I can click on next and 5 seconds later the Wizard disappears.
    Any ideas?

P.S. It seems that adduser.exe is generating event 4097. However, a search
    reveals no such file.

  3. Peter,

Check and see if the following applies..

    1) Start/Run winver Does it show as Service Pack 1?

    2) In Control Panel/System/Advanced Tab click the Settings button in the
Performance section. Do you have a tab called Data Execution Prevention? Is
it set to turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select?

    3) In regedit under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer do you have
a ServicePackNumber value? If so, does it have a value of 0x1?

The reason I ask is that you may have that kind of behavior if you've
installed Windows Server 2003 SP1 and DEP is enabled, but have not completed
the upgrade to SBS 2003 SP1.

    Dear David,
Thank you for taking the time to help.
    Winver reports Version 5.2 Build 3790 ....-1447 : Service Pack 1
There is a tab called Data Execution Protection and is set for all programs
    except those I select.
More importantly, there is a single untry, unticked, for Add User Wizard.
Time to read your links me thinks.

Is it possible that I have installed Server 2003 SP1 and not SBS 2003 SP1.
Add remove programs only shows Server 2003 SP1.
So I will do another download.
    Thanks
    Peter

    Dear David,
Over the weekend I installed the SBS SP1. It seems that I only installed
the Server 2003 SP1. Now my problems are over (for the time being). Many
    thanks for you help.

    Regards
    Peter
