No drive mappings? I have to reboot the dfs root server.

Every month or so users login to the network and they don't get any drive
mappings. I have four file servers that users have drive mappings to. So,
to fix the problem I have to reboot my dfs root server. After that everybody
can logoff and log back on to receive their drive mappings. Why is this
happening? I don't see anything in the event logs. I have a 2003 AD
evironment. My root server is a 2003 domain controller.

  2. I've not heard of this problem before. DFS isn't responsible for drive
mappings--the service just provides referrals when users attempt to access a
UNC path. Instead of rebooting your DC (which is also your root server), try
restarting the DFS service to see if that fixes the problem. If it does not,
then the problem is something other than DFS.
