no mobile verification code SMS received

    When I attempt to register my mobile phone with Windows Live/Messenger, I do
    not receive the SMS message containing the verification code.

    I have verified the following:
    Able to send/receive other SMS/MMS messages.
    Entered the correct phone number in the requested format.

    I am on the AT&T network, using an AT&T FUZE running Windows Mobile.
