Other playback speeds than 1 kills audio, why?

    Hi,
when I play wmv videos I can change playback speed, and the audio pitch
keeps the same, that is just a brilliant feature.

But it does not work on DVD playback. With other speeds than 1 there is no
    audio at all.

How can that issue be solved, is it a matter of the right codec?
BTW, I tried WMP 10 and 11, same problem with both versions.

Thanks for any help in advance,
    Andreas
