OWA works internally and almost works externally....

I have a SBS Premium 2003 installation on my main fileserver. Exchange works
great for all my internal Outlook clients. I also have another 2003 Server
(member server only, not AD) that is acting as my web server for several
websites. This also is working just fine. I can run OWA successfully
internally . I have the default website (on the SBS 2003 box) configured with
port 8787/443 for OWA access. I can actually reach OWA externally but the
screen display is not complete (it does not say "Loading" anywhere on the
display), the folders on the left have no icons (just folder names) and the
mail pane is severly scrunched left to right and top to bottom. The only
other other thing I noticied is that I am not coming in on the SSL port
eventhough I have SSL enabled for the website (that is internally and
externally). If anyone has some suggestions I would be most appreciative.
This issue has been driving me nuts for the last 2 months.

    Thanks

Marina, Thanks for the post.....fix 831464 and SP1 have been installed. Would
it do any good to re-apply 831464? I Actually have removed both IIS and
Exchange and reinstalled them both (as of a couple of months ago). After that
I applied the fix and SP1. What do you think??

    Thanks
    Dave

  4. Hi Dave,

    SP1 won't install if the 831464 isn't installed first so I don't think that
it will help you to reinstall that fix.
But having removed IIS and Exchange is a bigger issue. Did you follow the
kb's for that? Did you also apply the additional SBS hotfix after SP1?
What do you mean with port 8787/443 for OWA??? OWA only needs 443.

    Marina,
Can you give me the info on the KB's that are required after a IIS reinstall
as well as the hotfix after SP1 for Exchange. I am pretty sure the required
patches and hotfixes were loaded but I would rather be safe than sorry.
The port situation is this, we have a dedicated Web server (Windows 2003
Standard Server) that is using port 80 for the default website. Exchange is
running on the SBS 2003 server so I cannot have OWA use port 80. On previous
installations using Windows NT and Windows 2000 Server with IIS 4 & 5, I have
used a different port for web access (hence 8787/443). If I stop my dedicated
web server and give the OWA's default website on the SBS 2003 server port 80,
    it works fine.

I really appreciate your input on this issue.

    Thanks
    Dave

  6. Hi Dave,

I never reinstalled IIS, so I can't help you with that.
The hotfix after SP1 for Exchange can be found from here:

    Smallbizserver.Net > SBS 2003 > Service packs & patches > Exchange 2003:
    http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=141

As far as I know, OWA can only run on 443.
