    Hi Guys,
I tried to respond to the original post of " close with the X means close,
not minimze to the system tray " but it never would take. I tried on two
different days to post my results and a huge Thank You, but it just wouldn't
    go in that post.

Anyway, that's the reason for the new post.

So the story in the end was exactly as Peter suggested.... checking
the -Upload Larger Images... blah blah- solved the whole issue. How
he/anybody E V E RRRRR found that, figured that out, equated that, etc. is
mind-numbing. I mean probably pure luck, but on the other hand, absolute
    utter brilliance.

So thank you Immensely, and thanks Urbane Tiger and also Robert R for the
    help and suggestions!

    Tim

There is a shut-down bug in WLMail that may be the cause of your problem. It
occurs when "Upload Larger Images to the Web When Sending a Photo E-mail"
    is *un-checked*.

This option is available only when you are signed in, but if it is
un-checked it still causes the shutdown bug even when not signed in.

So make sure the option "Upload Larger Images to the Web When Sending a
Photo E-mail" is *checked* at: Tools->Options->Send [tab] (available only
when signed into Windows Live through WLMail).

If you do find that "Upload Larger Images to the Web When Sending a Photo
E-mail" is checked (which it is by default), then just uncheck it and click
"Apply", then check it again and click "Apply" again.

Now, whilst this shut-down bug is due to the option "Upload Larger Images to
the Web When Sending a Photo E-mail" being un-checked, in my experience, it
does not manifest until a new compose window, or a saved draft has been
opened. Even if the new compose window or saved draft is closed without
editing, saving, sending etc., WLMail will not shut down properly.

"We can thank RonnieJP for discovering the workaround for the shut-down bug.
In his words, he "stumbled upon" it."

Geeez-zus.... that's stumbling upon something like guys in 1830 must have
felt about stumbling upon gold dust and gold nuggets.

Thanks to RonnieJP; and to you for recalling it!
