Pink and green screen with broken sound and video?

    I wouldn't say that I'm novice nor an expert; that being said I am confused.
    I'm only having a problem on my main PC; laptop and wife's PC work just fine.
    On mine however when I attempt to watch ANYTHING using Windows Media Player I
    get primarily pink and green lines across the video, the video is broken as
    well as the sound. I'm contimplating removing it and redownloading it but
    there are no missing files in the player and think the issue is elsewhere.
    Chances are it's a simple fix that I am not aware of. If it's such a simple
    problem to fix that you feel it not worth your time to help me out on then
    forgive me for not being as bright as you and give me the low down anyway
    please ;)
