How do I configure my browser (IE7) and/or media player (v10) so that media
clips I find at various sites will play inside IE7 rather than launching
Media Player as a seperate application?

  2. It's designed to do it that way. The last version which had playback
in the browser sidebar was I think WMP8 or 9 along with IE5.5 or so.

    Perhaps that's what you're remembering ?

OK. I hadn't been viewing video inside my browser for quite some time now but
I thought it was due to a configuration change I'd made ... guess it was just
a distant flash of memory. Are there any IE7 compatible plug-ins to achieve
that ... or has that kind of plug-in been axed because its too much of a
    security risk?

  4. No plugins that come to mind - at some point I guess people might
re-implement it using the WPF/E plugin for IE or Firefox as it becomes
    available.

I can't even remember why it went now, I just remember having to tell
loads of people why they couldn't see the media sidebar any more in IE
    ;-)
