Please give us back WinMedia 11!

Discussion in 'Windows Media Player' started by Barry in Seattle, May 8, 2010.

  1. I'm begging anyone at Microsoft willing to listen: *please* give us a way to
revert to Windows Media v11 (on Windows 7)!!! While v11 was far from
perfect, v12 is a huge step backward. For the first time I'm seriously
considering abandoning the product entirely in favor of a 3rd-party option.
From the complete dysfunction of playlists, to the challenge of simply
ripping CDs, this latest release is a usability disaster.

I think it's absurdly heavy-handed not to give your customers the option of
uninstalling the new version and reverting to the previous rev. Please give
    us the choice!

What problem are you having ripping CDs? Sometimes people have the
player set very narrow, so they don't see the Rip button. Make the
player wider and you should see it.

You can still run WMP 11 on Windows 7 in (virtualized) XP mode.

There are instructions on the web for rolling back WMP 12 to 11, but
with the risk of breaking your WMP installation and requiring a full
    Windows 7 reinstall.
