Pop ups from exchange server over IE 7 usually blocked

I connect to Exchange Server using IE 7. IE 6 used to pop up a message when a
new mail arrived but IE7 usually says pop up blocked. Very occasionally a pop
up does appear correctly, but I have no idea what conditions allow this
    occasional success.
I have added the server address to the allowed list of pop ups and also
tried allowing a more general address, and I have also allowed pop ups from
secure servers but all to no avail.

    Any idea what's going on?

  2. I think you will find that the OWA popups to which you refer are not pop-ups
in the traditional sense of the word, and won't be affected by the pop-up
    blocker.

That being said, I'm not sure what the issue would be; the OWA fixes I know
of relate to responding to messages and changes to activex controls in IE,
    not the little pop-up toast.

I'd recommend you try one of the Outlook newsgroups to see if they have come
    across anything.

The email address I use for newsgroups is a spam trap and does not get read.

If I go to the tab with the OWA and find the inbox shows inbox(1) then the
pop up blocker strip has appeared and says it has blocked a pop up, so it
must be detecting something. I have to close the strip each time.
