i just deleted the windows messenger files on my computer
which is running xp in an effort to keep ad messages from
popping up. they say message to unsafe user: you are open
to attack. go to messagedestroyer.com to stop this opening.
I know there must be a way i can stop this without
purchasing someones software. and now that i dont have
microsoft messenger anymore i still get the popups about
messenger directing me to the websites. also any good
ideas about regular pop up ads?
    thanks for any help.

right click my computer, left click manage in the drop down menu. A window
will open. At the bottem of the list you should see a line named services.
open it, then click services. This should bring up a list of services in the
window on the right. scroll down till you see "net messenger" right click
and go to properties. disable and stop net messenger. this will stop at
least the annoying YOU ARE OPEN TO ATTACK messages .... sheesh wish people
had more to do withh their time than spam my box. I feel your pain and I
    hope this helps ya some
