Wondering if there's a way to control the On/Off functions of a cable box
that supports discrete on/off IR commands through MCE 2005? Every now and
again, my box turns itself off and I'd like to have MCE try and power it up
    if it finds no signal.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, all MCE can do is change channels
on the STB. It can't turn it on or off.

I've actually suggested that feature exactly as
you described -- to test for the presense of a
signal, and turn the STB on if there is none.

    Bob,

Thanks for the note.. Did you get any feedback on the possibility of
incorporating that in the futue? Seems to me that the changes required would
    be slight at best.

    Happy Holidays,
