In XP you could hit the "Print Screen" button to take a screen shot of your
desktop (as an example). when i do this with Vista i dont get any color on
the screen shot, and i get a black bar on the right of the screen when i
paste it to paint or to photoshop. almost as if the settings on my monitor
was telling windows that it was a 19 inch wide by 17 in tall monitor. but its
not. is anyone else having this problem or just me?

  3. The original poster's problem is a well known issue with certain screen
drivers (NVIdia GeForce) that exhibits with both print-screen AND the
snipping tool. It appears to be rectified in the 5456.5 build (first
build released to technical beta testers after Beta 2).

Also, the snipping tool is not available on all Vista SKUs.

  5. As I wrote, the bug is fixed in a later build. There's not much you can
    do on your side.
