Print Target & Save Target As - not working for Office documents

How can we print a MS Office document posted on a website (besides
downloading, using Save As..., then re-opening and printing from the Office
    applications (Word, Excel, etc.))?

We use a website where we have traditionally posted many Word docs and Excel
spreadsheets, and have always been able to click to open, then print from the
    window they appeared in...

With IE7, the documents open in a new IE7 window that does not have any
toobars (eg., no buttons), and there doesn't seem to be any printing support
    whatsoever.

If we right-click on the document icon (on the webpage), there is a "Print
Target" and a "Save Target As..." function, but neither of them work.
Incidentally, if we right-click on white space (not an Office doc), the
"Print Target" and "Save Target As..." functions are grayed out - so I know
that IE7 sees the document as a downloadable and printable item.

Any help would be appreciated. We don't want to have to start reverting
    back to older versions already!

    Thanks,
    Hugh
