Hi, I just got a problem of adding new contact. When I add a new contact, it
does show in my contact list as "offline".However, the contact I added
doesn't receive my request and therefore she/he always appears offline in my
MSN.The new contact can see my status and talk to me.The problem is I don't
    see he/she is online.

In the conversation window, it shows "XXX is not in your contact list. Click
here to add him or her now." I click but nothing happens.

I signed in Web Messenger and it shows the new contact is added in my
list. But on Live Messenger, it's totally a different issue.I'm not sure if
this relates to my computer setting or to the status of my account.

I tried to delete the contact and add it again. Same thing happens.

Hope get your response soon. Thank you!

I have been having the same problem. Tried the same things, deleting,
uninstalling and starting over, everything I can think of and nothing changes.
I don't have the problem at all on my laptop so I don't know what the
    difference is.
    Any help would be great!!!

    Hi, guys

So all of us get the same problem. It's really frustrating and I start
thinking of changing a new MSN account. I'm not sure if this will help.

Is there any staff of Microsoft notice this issue? Hope get answer soon.

For ex. which other msn programs?
If you add the new contact in the "other program", then close it and start
Live Messenger, you find the new contact added working?

well i used web messenger and the contact was there ready for me to speak (i
was suprised that i had another contact there that msn never requested my
approval :S Anyway though now nothing happens. If you re-login to live
messenger you'll have the same issue. I strongly believe though that it's a
pc error, because I was able to see the contact on a windows live messenger
    in an other pc.

  13. rite i've got the same problem
i guess sth's wrong with the messenger since october
as i didn't have a problem of adding others in sept, but it seems for me on
the week after the 1st of oct, this problem exists... weird

  14. The fact is everything is weird.
Some contacts (new ones) are approved and appear online with no problems.
But some contacts (old ones such as my brothers - over 3 years on the list)
    doesn't appear online no more.
And some contacts (new) NEVER appear online (i check this with a girl i talk
    on skype).
So what the F* is wrong?
    Anyone from Microsoft????

Helllooooooooooo....microsoft? People are having problems with your software
    and you're not doing anything.

This is why you're losing to google, apple and the open source community.

Actually, they are doing work behind-the-scenes. They are trying to resolve

  17. So the problem affects everyone?
There's a possible date to release a patch (or something to fix this)?

    Tks,
    Diego

  19. Hi Sam,

It seems removing the policies key also refreshes your contacts. So, shut down Messenger
entirely by right-clicking on its icon in the notification area and choosing Exit, then
download and run this .reg file:
    http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/remove_wlmpolicies.reg

Then try signing in again. Usually takes a minute or two for the contacts to refresh.
