Problem w/ Remote keyboard while another PS/2 keyboard, mouse attac

Discussion in 'Windows Media Center' started by Marc Bastarache, Sep 27, 2005.

  1. The Microsoft update rollup1 for ehome infrared is properly installed ..

While the new XP Media Center Remote keyboard's media center specific
buttons work fine (volume, FF, pause, etc.) - the mouse and traditional
keyboard keys seem to be completely non-functioning.

I am hoping that my former (still connected) Microsoft PS/2 wireless
keyboard/mouse - are not the source of interference ... I don't want to
    sacrifice my traditional mouse.

Can I use both keyboards at the same time? Or, do I need to disconnect my
primary keyboard/mouse for the new Media Center remote keyboard to work?

NOTE: My primary setup is the PS/2 Microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard
1.1 and Microsoft wireless optical mouse (and have now added the XP MCE
    Remote keyboard).

I definitely had interference and erratic behaviour with another PS2 IR
receiver (unbranded keyboard / mouse) when trying to use the MS MCE remote
control. No longer an issue with my new MS MCE keyboard.

  3. SOLUTION FOUND: I simply installed the 2 XP Media center updates (again) -
and the remote keyboard works fine now.
