I started to have problems this tuesday here is the error that occurs
everyboot up and as result the Monitoring does not work in the Server Manager

    Event ID 7001
The SQLAgent$SBSMONITORING service depends on the MSSQL$SBSMONITORING
service which failed to start because of the following error:
    The operation completed successfully.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I figured that i could install the SBS2003 Service Pack 1 because it updates
the MSDE to SP4 but i got a Error, and the ISA 2004 install also gave an
error with msde not able to install.

this is taken from the sbs setup log
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Integration\Windows Small Business Server
    2003\Logs\setup.log

    Component Name: Server Configuration
    Version: NA
    Installation Status: Failure
Error Message: MSDE 2000 Service Pack 4 did not install. For additional
instructions, see the SQL Server 2000 Service Pack Web site at
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=46241.

Everything else intalled fine and everything works but the monitoring and
    gives the error at bootup.

Any Ideas on how to fix this?

  2. Morgan,

Can you send me a copy of the following logs.

From the \program files\microsoft integration\windows small business server
    2003\logs directory
    eventlog.txt
    errorlog.txt
    setup.log
    Monitoring_MSDE.Log

    \Program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SBSMonitoring\LOG
    Errorlog

    \Program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SBSMonitoring\install
any *.out files with dates around the date/time you were installing the SBS
    SP1.
