I am having difficulty adding a new user and enabling that user to access
outlook. Once I create the new user account via the user wizard on the
server, I then login as the user and try to open outlook in order to set up
the user's email account. However, the user is not listed in the global
address list, even though he is listed in the active directory list of users
on the server. How can I get this user added to the exchange directory so
    that he can use outlook?

  3. Assuming that this includes SP1 and the Update Open Exchange Systems Manager
on the server and Expand Recipients. Highlite Recipient Update Service and
in Right Pane Right click on both instances and Run Update Now. Give it time
to complete and see if they are added to GAL. Alternately Restart server.

Where do I go to view the Global Address List? When I click on the link in ESM
under "Recipients>All Global Address Lists>Default Global Address List"
there is nothing there. Should I be able to view a list of all user accounts
    from within the ESM?

I am still having the same problem. When I log in as the new user and try to
start Outlook, I get the following message: "The name could not be matched to
a name in the address list."

When I then attempt to click on the "check name" button I get this message:
"The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in
    the address list."

  6. Did you restart the server after you installed Exch SP1 and the Update. In
any case try restarting server. If issue still occurs Ck event viewer for
errors and see if Recipient update service ran.

  7. Also in addition to my last post ck the event viewer for any current 8331
errors (before the server restart) Exch SP1 should fix those but if they are
still there the SP may not have installed correctly.
