Profiles in Both c:\Docs and Settings and Dedicated Profiles Folde

Discussion in 'Windows Server' started by JonOfAllTrades, Sep 28, 2005.

  1. Good morning. I hope you can forgive a server admin newbie question:
Each of our clients has a profile directory in c:\Profiles on our Win2K
server, as specified in AD. Several also have an entry in c:\Docs and
Settings on the server. I'd expect this for admin accounts that actually log
in to the server locally; can I safely delete the others?
Some of the Docs and Settings profiles report modfiications in the past
couple of months, but I'm quite sure that none of these people have logged
    into the server.
    Thank you!

So long as your \docs and setttings path isn't shared and used for
    roaming profiles then yes.

Do your users use terminal services to connect to this server at any
time? - The very fact that the profiles are there means somebody has
been logging in as these users on this machine.

  3. No, we don't use terminal services. I'm sure they couldn't have logged
in; I'm guessing the directories were created before I set their profiles to
    use our designated Profiles directory.
    Thank you!
