Promoting W2K3 Member Server (w2k3 sp1) as AD (domain is w2k3 R2 based)

Hi,

I'd like to know how I can promote an existing W2K3 SP1 member server
running serving also as a print/DHCP server. But our AD structure is W2K3
R2 based.

I don't think dcpromo will work on the w2k3 member server. If memory
serves, I read somewhere that I need to run forestprep from the W2K3 R2 disc
on the member server first? Is this correct?

I'd appreciate your response.

 

if you already have W2K3 R2 DCs, just run DCPROMO on the SP1 DC
